Desktop Internet Shortcut Icons

I have several desktop internet shortcuts with specific icons. Or I had.
Now all show the default IE icon. I try to change them via properties, apply
the new icon, and it changes back immediately to the IE icon.

Suggestions?

IE icon.

Those icons are called "favicons" and they are kept in your Temporary
Internet Files. As the T.I.F. are cleared (which they should be
regularly), the favicons disappear. Here are links which will help you
