Using XP-Pro. The shortcuts I placed on my desktop have suddenly lost their
individual icon displays. All of them are a generic white square with a
small window displayed. When I right click and select properties and change
icon, the correct icon is displayed as a selection. But when I click that
icon and choose apply and okay, nothing happens on the desktop display.

FYI, I have rebooted and no change in the display.

By the way, it's not just icons for shortcuts that are missing. It is also
My Computer, My Documents, Internet Explorer, etc.

Hi,

Locate the iconcache.db under this folder: C:\Documents and
Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Application Data and delete it, then reboot.
