Desktop Icons

Is there a tool that can repair the desktop icons? Why I ask, is that when
I first start the computer up, and log in, the icons on the desktop are
there but not representing the programs. It takes about 10 seconds to get
these icons to show their true colors. I can here the hard drive. It never
did that before until I upgraded to XP Pro SP2 from SP1. It usually came up
instantly.

The icons are there it just takes awhile to show their programs. I did do a
defrag, and that didn't help. Matter of fact, it's just two users out of 5
that are experiencing this.

I don't know why not. You have to have at least XP SP1.

I don`t think this needs a repair, when Explorer loads, it also loads
programs in the backgrounds and slows other things down such as
Desktop refresh. Load MSCONFIG and see if you need all the programs on
Startup. Otherwise just live with it.
