Desktop icons display problem.

Hi,

My desktop icons have recently stopped displaying properly. Instead of the
usual default icons they just show up as a standard icon (a white page with a
window inside it and 3 coloured dots).

I've tried resetting the icons manually but this only works for some of my
shortcuts, and not for My Computer, Recycle Bin etc. The icons have also
changed from next to my programs on the Start bar.

I don't know exactly when it happened but all I've done to my system
recently is download a Windows Media Player update and play a game, so I
don't see how either of those things could have effected my desktop... My
virus scanner is up to date too and running it hasn't fixed the problem.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.

Hello,

I've had the same problems. Tried the two solutions suggested and it still
hasn't worked. Any ideas anyone?

Thank you!
