desktop icons display incorrectly

i have just completed a fresh install of windows vista business.

some desktop icons are not showing up correctly.
They look like they are sliced horizontally and and misaligned in the center.

ive tryied reinstalling new and old drivers for my graphics card. same issue.

Any ideas why the production version of windows v is behaving like this?
 
Have you used the drivers from the video chipset manufacturer's website
(typically nVidia or ATI)? If these, WHQL certified drivers aren't working
correctly, then I'd suspect your video card.
