Desktop Icons anomally

I dont think i worded my query very well earlier. Hope this is better:

All my desktop icons name are highlighted permanently
As if you click on them to change or rename the text below them.

Is there a place to change seetings or icon properties perhaps?

Any ideas please?

Thanks

Do you mean that the icons are no longer transparent?

Click on the Start button
Select Control Panel
Then select Performance and Maintenance/Adjust Visual Effects/"Use drop
shadows for icon labels on the Desktop".
Classic – Control Panel/System/Advanced/Performance/Settings
If this still doesn't do the trick, right-click the desktop, point to
Arrange Icons By and make sure that Lock Web Items on Desktop is un-checked

OG, I've got the same problem. And TaurArian, I'm sorry, but Your
instructions are not clear to me. BUT, I found if you simply right-click any
where on your Desktop, then point over an Icon, it will become Transparent
from there on. Note: anytime IE is minimized, procedure must be repeated.
