How do I get an icon from my desktop into the task bar at the bottom. I have
tried to drag and drop but it just jumps back to the desktop.

thanks

Most likely your task bar is locked.

Right click on a blank area of the taskbar, and remove the check from "Lock
the taskbar"

do not auto arranger yer icon in yer desktop and u can drag yer icon now.

You can *not* do this. The task bar represents running programs.
The way to get a program onto the task bar is to start it.

But that's probably not what you want to do. My guess is that you
really meant to ask is how to get an icon onto the Quick Launch
Bar, the bar that contains shortcuts that can be used to start
programs.

If dragging a program to the Quick Launch Bar doesn't work, the
task bar is probably locked. Right click on a blank part of it,
and uncheck "Lock the task bar."

By the way, you might want to note that although the Quick Launch
bar appears *on* the task bar by default, it doesn't have to be
there. It can be dragged off the task bar and moved to any other
side of the screen you prefer it on (if the task bar is
unlocked).
