Desktop Icon Missing

One of my users lost her desktop icon on the quicklaunch toolbar. How do I
get it back?

You can re-create the icon as outlined in the article that Andy W linked
to.

Or you could simply copy the "Show Desktop" file from another user's
folders into the folder where it is missing.

Example, find "Show Desktop" in
..\Documents and Settings\<another user>\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Quick Launch

Right click/Copy. Go to
..\Documents and Settings\<target user>\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Quick Launch
and right click/Paste the shortcut into position.

Log-in to the account that doesn't have the icon
Click Start > Run > Type cmd > CLick OK
Type the following line in CMD window by Right click > Paste
(echo [Shell] & echo Command=2 & echo [Taskbar] & echo Command=ToggleDesktop) >> "%AppData%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick
Launch\Show Desktop2.scf"

Note that th above line should be in one line. After pressing Enter, your shortcut shoud be back

This thread is a long time ago but I hope you get to read this. Thank you so
much for giving that instruction. I delected my short cut and tried to find
it on the installation disk but no luck, so thank you very much indeed.
