desktop icon keeps coming back

On my desktop appears the Windows logo on top of a ~. I
have deleted it many times and it returns. I can find no
properties and it passes a virus test. What is it and how
can I permanently rid the desktop of this unwanted
clutter????

It's a flaw in Outlook Express that saves a backup of your Address Book to the desktop in error. Mark it has hidden or ignore it, it's harmless. Hopefully MS will have a fix soon.
