Remove Recycle Bin Icon?

Is there a way to remove the Recycle Bin Icon? For me it
serves no purpose, and if I do need to go to it I can do
that through the Start menu.

How about a way to get rid of the My Network Places icon?
Same story, it is just clutter on my desktop - never used.

Solution 1: Just right click recycle bin icon select
delete. and ...

Delete is not an option on my system when I do that.

However, I did find a way to get rid of it via a Registry
change.
