Desktop Eraser

In my login user group, if I click switch user and then cancel, the desktop
background is erased. Also if I run an application I can "erase" the same
background by mousing the app around the desktop. This started happening
after I changed the login user permission from Administrator to limited user.
If I right click on the desktop properties and select ok, the picture comes
back. Any tips on fixing this? xp pro sp2

Be patient. All the folks that post here are volunteers. It can take
up to 24 hours for the message to circulate and for someone to answer.

That said try downloading the lasted driver for your display card, then
uninstall and reinstall the driver.

Have you done a thorough scan for malware?

Will do the patient thing:)
I run spybot frequently and always get the dso exploit problem. Can't shake
it.
Can't find the Matrix Millennim G550 driver on the uninstall list but I will
get the latest driver and go from there.

Thanks Rock and I appreciate your help.

Good luck. I have had that problem when a program crashed. It remained
on screen but wouldn't close or run, and moving the window around erased
anything that was under it. Doesn't seem to be the problem you have
though - once I fixed the crashing problem then there was no window
erase issue.

The DSO exploit is a false alarm. There should be a setting in Spybot
S&D to ignore it. But to make sure a system is clean requires more than
just one program. Spybot is good but it doesn't catch everything.
