Desktop doesn't start after reboot

I have Vista 32 ultimate and after I reboot the desktop will not display
after I log on. If I do ctrl-alt-delete after logging on and launch task
manager I can run 'explorer' as a new task and all is fine but it will not
start automatically.

I've been running Vista for about 2 months ad initiallyit worked fine, only
in the last couple of weeks did it stop.

Any ideas???

What I would do is boot from the Windows Vista DVD and select the startup
repair. If this doesn't work, my only other suggestion would be trying to
repair your installation.

A less drastic approach might be to try a system restore to when you weren't
having this problem. You can also browse the system restore points for
changes to try and pinpoint what may have triggered this incident.
