Desktop display

The text under my Icons now appears to be black and is encased in a white
box. I don't appear to be able to find a way of retuning it to the normal
display e.g white text against the usual blue background of the desktop. Has
anyone got any ideas??

The color for your Icon text font is not a good color for your background.

Rightclick the desk, Properties, Appearances tab, Advanced button, 'Items'
drop box set to 'Window', see (usually greyed out)Font 'color' settings. This
will set the text color for icons, and the desk/explorer, and apps.
Alternatively, you might change the background color.

1.Remove all Active desktop items :
-Right click Desktop
-Properties
-Desktop tab
-'Customize desktop' button
-Web tab
-Uncheck all items and click OK twice.

2. Uncheck Lock icons :
-Right click Desktop
-Point to Arrange icons by
-Uncheck "Lock web items"

3. Enable 'Use Drop shadows for icons' :
-Click Start > Run
-Type sysdm.cpl ,3
-Press Enter or Click OK
-Click the first "Settings" button (under Performance)
-Scroll down and tick "Use drop shadows for icon labels...."
-Click OK twice.
