Desktop display problem

I was trying to customize my desktop and a weird white bar appeared on the
right
side of the screen. It is sizeable to about an inch from the right. When I
right clicked on the area and checked source it displayed a text file with
html code for
about:blank which it says windows auto created. Now I did set my home page
in Internet Explorer to a blank page before I edited my display properties.
So
does anyone know how I get rid of the white section? When I logged off and
on again it seemed to disappear in the log on screens until I got to the
desktop.

I am on a Dell cpu and monitor.

If you right-click the taskbar, in Toolbars, is the Address bar
checked?

See if this helps.

Go to Control Panel and double click Display.
In Display Properties, click on the Desktop tab.
On the Desktop page, hit the "Customize Desktop" button.
This should bring up the "Desktop Items" dialog.
Click on the Web tab.
Remove the check mark from the box next to "My Current Home
Page".
Click OK twice.

Good luck
