Desktop Background

When I boot up the system my desktop background appears as just a white page,
but with all the icons still visisble. It is clearly an internet page as when
you right click within the screen it gives the options for an internet
screen, and if you select "similar pages" option it goes to the Google search
engine screen.

I have gone into Control panel, Display and selected background and it still
shows as my original desktop picture but I cannot get it to display.

Any help would be appreciated.

From the same Display applet, click Desktop and then the Customize
Desktop button. Then click the Web tab. Uncheck any boxes that are
checked there. Apply and then you should be able to set your desktop as
desired.
