desktop background problems

I have gone in and unclicked all marks under properties and i have downloaded
the deal from kellys corner and i still cant set a picture as background ne
ideas

make sure that any picture you want to use a s a desktop is saved in the
format of; windows bitmap OS/2 - file extension .bmp
Copy the saved .bmp directly to the windows folder. Right click anywhere on
desktop - click properties - desktop - scroll the background box. If your
picture is not in the list click browse and navigate to the windows folder
then to your picture. Double click the name of your picture and it will
'jump' into the display screen. set the display to tile, centre or stretch.
click ok. etc .
