Desktop Background List Disappeared

Last night all my pictures in the Background List (from the old wallpaper file) disappeared, leaving me with only the "none" to choose from. I have tried to add pictures from both the old wallpaper file and from My Pictures, but it will only accept one picture. If I change my background it removes the current one and replaces it with the new one, but I can not get more than one on, though the "none" remains. Anyone have any suggestions?

Lanie,

Open Registry Editor and navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
Set 'WallPaperDir' to %SystemRoot%\Web\Wallpaper

Also, make sure that the number of picture files is less than 50 in the My Pictures folder. If you have too many files, move them to a different folder. See if that helps.

Hi,

You must have disabled certain file types.

See if the edit on line 142 (right hand side)

If this is not the case:

The pictures that show up under display properties, desktop are located in
these folders:

C:\Documents and Settings\user name\My Documents\My Pictures
C:\WINDOWS\Web\Wallpaper
C:\Windows\Resources\Themes

TweakUI for XP: Unchecking "Lock Web Content" under Explorer to be added
to desktop disables the pictures from being listed.

Thank you both, Ramesh & Kelly. It took a combination of suggestions from both of you, but I now have the list back where it should be. You are the greatest

Thanks and Thanks again
Lanie E.
