Desktop background disappears

This is strange. When the computer boots up, the desktop image I want
appears. But when the bootup nears completion and just before the desktop
icons appear, the background image disappears, to be replaced by a generic
blue background. I can't seem to find this image on the hard drive. Where
is it getting it from? How can I get it to appear permanently?

Assuming the computer is virus/malware-free, this is just a bug that happens
sometimes. The way to get around it is to set the background to None,
Apply. Now use the Browse button to locate the wallpaper you really want
and set it as your background. If you can't find the image on your hard
drive, perhaps it was "Internet Explorer wallpaper"; an image that you set
as your background from IE. In that case, it will be in your Temporary
Internet Files and you might be able to rescue it and save it properly in
your My Pictures/My Documents folder.
