Desktop Alert message

Suddenly my Desktop Alet message has stopped appearing. Any new incoming
message generates the sound but the 7 to 8 second semi transparent message
window does not appear any more.
I have tried restarting Outlook; rebooting the PC and even tried Repairing
but have not been successful in re-establishing the alert feature.
Any help will be very much appreciated.
 
Did you try resetting it in Tools, options, email options, advanced email
options?
 
You can make the same from right down corner. Click Outlook icon second mouse
and select " Show New Mail Desktop alert"

Thanks for the responses but all systems are go. The selection is there, the
set up is correct and I have toggled the selections on and off a couple of
times to reset any item which may not be set right.
All I can add to this adventure is that the only thing I did before I lost
the feature is to accept a backup of Outlook while exiting the program the
last time I shut the computer down. This may be coincidental but that is the
only thing I have done with or to Outlook prior to this problem. As I stated
earlier every set up has been checked again and again and even compared with
my Laptop setting as it is working without a problem. Also please be advised
that the sound feature is working where I get the sound when new email
arrives but not the display.
Again any help will be very much appreciated
