DEP and Windows Explorer shutting down

There have been two problems recently nagging me on Vista.

1. Data Execution Prevention closes many programs I need, and I can not edit
the settings.

2. Everytime I try going to My Documents, Control Panel, My Computer, etc,
Windows Explorer needs to close and I can not access any of it.

This has been really annoying and I need help, fast.

Dear M Puppets,

I have exactly the same problem as you experienced. I find that under normal
Windows startup, the Windows Explorer just doesn't work and I cannot access
My Document, Computer....only if I start up in Safe mode this is available
again. I have reinstalled Vista and it remains the same. I suspect that
during one of the application installation it deleted one of the Windows file.

Seems that I may need to reformat the computer to reinstall everything from
the very beginning.

Windows Explorer has really only been a problem since Vista updated today,
but I have had the DEP problem for a while now.
I'm glad to hear it is not just me though, I wasn't sure if it was a virus.
