Denial of acces to e-mail attachments

Attachments to e-mails from close friends are being
rejected by Outlook Express with the message 'OE has
removed access to the following unsafe attachment in your
mail'
Why does this happen and how can I successfully open
attachments from known 'safe sources' ?

Harry,

Tools>>Options>>Security

Uncheck "Do not allow attachments blah blah blah..."
