Hi
When i am trying to Demote a child DC i get the following error.how can
i demote my child DC

The operation failed because:

The directory service failed to replicate off changes made locally.

The DSA operation is unable to proceed because of a DNS lookup failure

It probably has little to do with "child" DC unless
it's the LAST one of that domain (then it needs to
tell the Domain Naming Master to kill the domain
name in AD for the whole forest.)

It is probably that same old set of DNS issues:
Dynamic DNS
DCs using the internal dynamic DNS in THEIR
OWN client properties (NIC\IP\DNS server)

Restart NetLogon (on DCs) if you change either of these items
to correct the problem.

Clients using internal DNS too

This is probably due to problems with replication. Use repladmin /showreps
to see your replication partners. Is this the last DC in your child domain
and you want to remove child domain completely ?
Also run dcdiag /v and netdiag /v to diagnose your domain status.

Sorry, to respond you late (I was on a short 5 days vacation). At what point
do you get this error ? On which DC are you doing this procedure ?
