Dell Printer: "Lack of resources"

Hi,

We have a Dell W5300n printer. We are using it as a report printer, so
there is a process that takes HTML documents and rapidly fires them to the
printer. After about 50-100 reports are printed out, our program crashes
and we get the following error when trying to view the printing preferences
for that printer:

"Printer operation cannot continue due to lack of resources."

We also cannot print to that printer using Office or Explorer after this
takes place.

There is another Dell W5300n printer configured on the same server. That
printer experiences the same symptoms as the first one. After we encounter
these problems, we need to reboot the server to clear up the problem.

My first thought is that our program caused the problem. However, we are
able to run the process using one of the three HP printers we use and there
aren't any problems. We also have a "printer" that generates PDF files and
that "printer" works fine as well.

After the corruption on the print server, other workstations and printers
are able to print to that printer queue on that server without any problems.

I'm thinking that there might be something wrong with the local printer
driver. I don't know what it would be. We are running Win2K SP4 with all
of the latest service packs.

Does anybody have any thoughts what the issue could be?

Thanks in advance!

It sounds like the Dell printer driver is the culprit. Perhaps an
"emulation" driver can be used if the Dell printer will emulate a generic
Postscript or HP printer.
