there are shortcuts in my address bar drop-list that
won't disappear after i've deleted my history. they are
not favorites so i do not know why they are still there.
when i click the history icon on my explorer bar and go
to search, they are there. how do i get rid of them?

Hi,
These entries might be in the registry in a TypedURLs key:
157729 - How to Clear the History Entries in Internet Explorer:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q157729
For an easier, safer removal method, go to
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm
and download "DelTypedURL." This INF file will remove ALL entries.

These two freeware programs will remove SOME or ALL entries:
IE Address Bar Editor: http://www.freesoft.fsnet.co.uk/ieedit01.htm
EditURLs: http://www.aandrc.com/editurls/index.htm

If they aren't in the TypedURLs key in the registry, try deleting the
History folder. Use the appropriate instructions at
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm

Hope this helps,
Don
