Deleting references in My Network Place

Using XP Pro... On one occasion, I accessed an FTP site with my user ID and Password. XP (automatically) setup a folder reference on my my local drive: "c:\Documents and Settings\Nethood\ftp_path.com". I did not want a reference. This reference includes my User ID and Password. The reference looks like a folder. When I double-click it, it takes me directly to my website folders with all my web page files, image files and so forth displayed in an IE "ftp" browser format

How do I delete the reference (that looks like a folder)? It shows as a subfolder under ..\Document and Settings\Nethood

I have tried deleting it. I get the message "Cannot delete filename: It is being used by another person or
program" etc. However, this "reference" is not being used by another person. However, the ftp path accesses my personal website and I don't want to delete my website. I just want to remove the reference setup by XP in the "Nethood" folder. Did not want the reference there in the first place.

In MS "HELP", I found how to delete logical drives but cannot find how to delete this kind of a reference to a remote server

Thanks for any suggestions

Hi Russ,

Have you tried deleting the folder from inside My Network Places (not by
navigating to %userprofile%\nethood)? Do you get the error when trying to
delete it from there?

Thanks,

Hello Nico

I resolved the issue

Solution: On classic Start menu select Settings, then Taskbar and Start Menu, then Start Menu tab, then Customize, then Advanced. After selecting "Advanced", the "Windows Explorer" displays. Select "Network Places" and deleted the items desired

Thanks, Russ
