Deleting Orphan Program in Add/Remove List

Boris

I just cleaned out a lot of spyware and trojans from my daughter's XPHome
laptop. But, one program, Install Provider, still shows in the Add/Remove
list, even though it's gone. How do I get this off the list?

TIA

Open the registry editor (regedit.exe) to this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

The entries in this key are the items in the add-remove list. You can also
use the search function on the registry editor and search on the program
name as it is reflected on the add-remove list. If you are not familiar
with editing the registry, I suggest you do an export of the item before
deleting it. The exported .reg file will replace the data you deleted
should a problem arise or if you delete the wrong thing.

Worked just fine. In the Uninstall folder were all the programs that are
in my add-remove list. While in the registry, I noticed a folder that
appears twice. I've begun another thread for this question.

Thanks
