Deleting news messages

How can I delete some of the newsgroup emails. I just started on Outlook
express and subscirbed to some emails. One of the newsgroups has 48,000. I
went to help and it is checked like delete after 5 days or something like
that, but isn't there a way to delete the number. I really won't go back
and read 48,000 newsgroups.

First of all there is a difference between Newsgroups and news postings.
If you actually have 48000 NewsGroups.....you have subscribed to too
many,unsubscribe from the ones you dont like.
If you actually mean 4800 postings in one NewsGroup you can click "edit" and
then "catch up" this marks them as being read.
You can also create a Rule that would delete read postings after 1,2,or 3
days.This would be under Tools/Message Rules/News
or you can clean them out by going to Tools/options/Maintenance/Clean up
now.......take your pick
