Deleting multiple boot options

Eric Greene

My thanks to Vanguardx for providing the quick and accurate answer to my
last question dealing with BootMagic. Perhaps someone can tackle this
one:

When I boot the machine, I get 3 different Windows OS options, all for
XP Pro. This happened because I halted a couple different installations
of XP Pro including one that looked like it was going to the D: drive.

If I attempt to select these, an error is displayed because the
installations were never completed. The first option is the working one
and I have it set to boot in 3 seconds, but I'd really like to get rid
of number 2 and 3.

Hi

Try this:

msconfig>boot.ini>Check All Boot Paths

1) Click Start > Run, Type "Cmd" and then press <Enter>.

2) Type "Cd\" and then press <Enter>

3) Type "Attrib C:\Boot.ini -h -r -s" and then press <Enter>

4) Click Start > Run, Type "Notepad c:\boot.ini" and then press
<Enter>

5) Edit the file as desired, save it, and then exit Notepad.

6) Type "Attrib C:\Boot.ini +h +r +s" and then press <Enter>

7) Close the command console.

Graphically:

From within WinXP, Start > Run > Msconfig, Boot.ini Tab > Check all
Boot Paths.
