The KBxxxxx.log files provide the same function as spuninst.exe for the same update/hotfix ?
The log files can be safely deleted.
The updates/hotfixes can be done too, though deletion will not remove any respective Add/Remove entries.
To properly cleanup the registry and delete the files a Hotfix removal utility is provided by Doug Knox(free and fee[/licensed[user selectable deletion]) which will also clean up the Add-Remove items.
..winston
look at the date created column and delete all but the latest several entries just incase you need to uninstall a recently added update.

There are over 3 MB of Knowledge Base logs (KBxxxxxx.log) files in my root
directory (C:\Windows.) Is it safe to delete these files? If so, what are
the consequences?
