XP Home - log files - safe to delete?

I have just done a search on my XP Home PC for 'log' files, which has thrown
up 100 MB of txt files. The largest of these by far are Outlook Express
logs going way back. I understand it should normally be safe to delete a
log file as it will be replaced when that application is run again. That
said, common sense says there must be some log files in respect of which
deletion causes problems. Comments/advice???

You can safely delete log files, but, just in case, copy them to another
folder.

I would leave logs such as WindowsUpdate.log because otherwise Windows won't
know which updates are installed.

Use your common sense to determine which ones to delete.

I only have a few logs on my system.

Try using the free CCleaner utility to clean the system.

Not all .Log files are safe for removal, especially the ones in the Registry
folder C:\Windows\System32\Config. I wouldn't advise someone to do
a "Global Delete/Remove" on .Log files.
