Hi,

Whenever I sync my newsgroups with Win Mail, I get a number next to the
ng, i.e.. microsoft.public.pocketpc (6) even though I have used the
"catch-up" function then delete but that still shows up. Is there a file in
appdata that I can delete to get rid of it?

Jeff

addendum,
at the bottom of Win Mail it says "0 message(s), 6 not downloaded" and it
shows that 6 next to the ng.
Any help?

Jeff

With that problem, it often helps to click Tools, then Get Next 300
Headers a few times.

Thanks,

That got rid of 5 of them but still have 1 that won't go away.
It says at the bottom of Win Mail
0 message(s), 0 unread, 1 not downloaded

and I clicked on Get Next 300 headers lots of times.
Any other possibilities to cure this?

Those are called 'ghost' messages. The number may change next time you go
to that newsgroup. There's nothing to do about it. Do you want the long
technical description?

Depends on the servers whether or not they go away.
This happens when the servers on a server farm get out of synch and have
different ID numbers for the same message so that the mail client is
confused about the ID of the latest message. It subtracts the ID of the
latest message it has from the highest ID listed and says those
(nonexistent) messages haven't been downloaded.
