old deleted revisited-intentionally the same as old post

Hi,
I've been using catch-up to mark all messages as read, I then delete
them, but? Using catch-up; I thought it was supposed to mark all messages
as read; I then delete all; but now whenever I start Winmail; it shows old
"supposedly" deleted ones from Nov 30th. I delete them again, but the same
ones keep popping up.
Umm,
any help?

Jeff
no this isn't an error, not a double post-meant to do it

Catch up is designed to mark the messages read that are on the server so
they don't get downloaded.

If you want to mark all as read, then use CTRL-A / CTRL-Q .

If you want to delete them, the use the delete key.

Steve,
I realize what delete means, and these messages don't seem to be getting
deleted; or even seen by catch-up, because they keep coming back as
new-not;read alrready.
need help with this issue of old deleted mail reappearing,in Winmail, in
Vista RTM(just to clarify)

Steve,
Didn't mean to sound testy,sorry.
Was messing with Symantec beta stuff; and had to reformat.
I'll see if the problem still exists now.
If it does, am familiar with delete;catchup, etc.
Sorry if that first response seemed terse.
Been runnin Vista only since CPP;
am quite familiar with Winmail,
this issue just started showing up.

Jeff, are you using the MS news server to get the feed for those newsgroups,
or your local ISP, etc.? Does this happen on all your newsgroup accounts
or just some servers?

Anyway, things it maybe could be are: (a) if you are using a non-MS server,
it could be the feed into your server isn't being updated regularly and you
are getting old posts regurgitated; (b) if you are using a MS server, it
could be that you log into one "slave" in the farm and do a Catch Up, then
next time get a different slave in the MS server farm and those two slaves
are slightly out of synch; (c) the actual Catch Up process didn't fully
complete for whatever reason (lost connection to server, server timed out,
etc.).

Using the same server and account settings, can you duplicate this using
Outlook Express on a different computer?

Sky,
Good thoughts there,
loggin into the MS news servers, not usin Winmail for regular e-mail; just
nntp stuff.
and only MS servers.
Vista only; on this laptop.
For my regular e-mail I'm using Outlook '07
Reformatted, and haven't used catchup yet.
Thanks for the fresh ideas,
Access to OE is available, I'll check OE
I'll check it out,

No problemo.

I think you nailed the problem: Its called Symantec. I won't install
anything by them on any machine and the first thing I do when working on a
machine is remove it.

I suspect that was the problem. This still applies for WinMail as well as
OE: www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

Steve,
No dice,
that wasn't it.
Now after catch-up; they show as marked,but after I delete them-they pop-up
again,
If this was Windows "Live" Mail I'd call them Undead.
In fact,
they ARE UNDEAD-lol
I deleted them; but they won't go away.
the living dead-the Undead-Windows Undead Mail-lol
Reformatted and everything, same issue
attached a snipshot of them.
Darrell is tenacious-lol

Jeff

p.s.
Mighta sent this twice-now it won't post this!!!
lol
addendum, it seems the jpg didn't get through-so this one is without an
attachment

There is a limit of about 100 Kbytes for any attachment in these NGs.

I would just mark them read and then Hide read messages.
