All my old, deleted e-mails show up

Jerry

On several occasions when I go to windows e-mail, instead of the usual ten
or fifteen messages I expect, get several hundred of my old, supposedly
deleted e-mails. I delete them, empty the deleted items box and junk mail
and as soon as that task finishes the inbox once again starts receiving the
old e-mails. How do I stop this and where to all these old, deleted e-mails
reside so I can get rid of them permanently?

Thanks for any info

The messages reside on your provider's mail server.
You can select how long messages are kept on the server
(or immediately deleted) by going to Tools, Accounts, select
your mail account, Properties, Advanced, go to the 'Delivery'
section.

This happens when there is a message on the server that WinMail cannot
download. If it cannot download everything it never tells the server to
delete the messages and never updates its own records.

See if your mail provider has a Web interface to email where you can delete
the messages you already have and the next one in order.
