deleting files doesn't free disk space

I captured some video to my hard disk, using almost all
its remaining capacity of about 25Gb. When I later
deleted the file by moving it to an external drive using
Explorer, the feee disk space properties on my hard drive
didn't change, regardless of full diagnostics and
defraging I can't find the reason or fix the problem so I
only have 20 MB left effectively.

Can anyone suggest a solution, short of reformatting
which I really don't want to do right now.

thanks

Richard

Do a full disk search for the filename that is taking
space, it is probably copied to a temp file somewhere. If
that doesn't work do a search for all files with that
extention (ex. *.mpg) and find the one that is taking all
the space.

Hope this helps
Chris

You didn't say if you emptied the recycle bin. If you have Norton on your
system, you have to empty it in 2 different areas.
