Deleting Exchange account - how to move calendar/contacts Outlook

I just changed jobs but need to preserve my old calendar and contacts
currently stored on my ex-employer's Exchange server. If I simply delete the
account all the data seems to disappear. Can I create a new default
calendar/contacts on my PC and move the data across?

Assuming you either have not deleted the account or can restore it using
system restore - make a new pst (if you don't have one already) and copy the
items you need into the new pst. Once you have everything you need out of
the OST, you can safely delete the exchange acct and the OST.
