Deleting blank line above a paragraph removes formatting

When I delete a blank line that is above a paragraph with a style applied,
the style is removed, and I have to re-apply it.

Is there any way to just delete the blank line (the paragraph mark) without
affecting the style of the following paragraph?

I've tried:

- Placing the cursor on the blank line, and hitting delete.
- Placing the cursor in front of the first character in the subsequent
paragraph, and hitting backspace.

Either way, the subsequent paragraph moves up, but the style applied to that
paragraph is removed.

At the moment I can't reproduce that in Word 2003, and I don't believe I've
experienced it except perhaps at the end of a document.

Hi funnybroad,

This often happens where a page break or section break follows the paragraph in question. Try deleting the preceding paragraph mark
instead.

Cheers
