Deleting a file from message_files folder (FrontPage 2002)

I moved a file from our main website into the FrontPage message_files folder
in error and now want to delete it.
If I type the URL of our website in the Internet Explorer address box
followed by /message_files/filename.htm this opens the error file but I
cannot find it in FrontPage.
Would appreciate some help as to how to find and delete the error file in
FrontPage.

It will not be easy, since FrontPage permanently hides folders with names
such as pagename_files. These are thicket folders associated with a page,
and FP treats both page and folder as a single item.

Best and easiest way is to delete the file from the local copy of the web
(using Windows Explorer), run
Tools->Recalculate Hyperlinks,
then publish the site using changed pages only. This will normally delete
files on the target web that are not in the local web.

Alternatively, use an FTP program to delete the file from the remote web,
then open the remote web in FrontPage and run
Tools->recalculate hyperlinks
to update the associated meta data. Do not delete any other files or
folders.

As a side note, if you have such a thicket folder in your web, try opening
the page in Firefox and check the quality of any images created with the
FrontPage or Office drawing toolbar (WordArt, Text Boxes, ShapeArt) - they
will usually be poor; or the HTML for the page will be bloated since it was
produced by an Office program (not FrontPage).
