Deleted Previous User Account

Some time ago I had problems with IE7. To resolve this issue Microsoft
helpdesk instructed me to create a new user account with administration
rights. Then told me to delete the previous user account. However, a program
was installed during my previous user account and now I want to delete the
program using Windows "Add or Delete Programs" but cannot.
How can I get back into my previous user account settings so that I can
delete this program?

You likely need to take ownership of the files you are trying to delete.
