You know, I delete my Recycle Bin about once a week. Don't feel bad.

I think it's because we delete items all the time, unused folders,
pictures we had on the desktop, etc., with a right click/delete, so
often and so second-naturedly, that when it comes to emptying the
Recycle Bin, we accidentally delete it.

Quick way to get it back is to:

Right-click the desktop, and left-click Personalize.
In the upper left corner, left-click on Change Desktop Icons.

Just check what you want to show on your desktop, click Apply and OK,
and it comes right back!

(But Carey's right in teaching you to fish, instead of just handing
you one!)

Donny, who's still learning, too.

Right-click on the Desktop, click Personalize, and in the left pane, click Change desktop icons. In the Desktop Icon Settings dialog, enable the Recycle Bin checkbox. Click OK. See also:

Do NOT use System Restore to return a Recycle Bin
TOTALLY unnecessary!

Right click Desktop
Personalize
Left hand pane click Change desktop icons
Check Recycle Bin
Click OK
