My wife has Mastercook 5 and it was getting some errors so I reinstalled the
program but she had on the old program a file called "My Cookbook" that she
had over 500 recepies in. After I reinstalled the program that file was
overwritten. How do I find that file?

The best advise is put on a tin hat and run for cover! if the file has been
overwritten during reinstalling then, in most cases, it has gone. Action
needs to be taken immediately not some time later. The more you use the pc
the more 'free space' (this includes the area where a file used to be but is
allocated for overwriting) gets allocated to other files etc. There is an
application called Restoration that might be able to find the files, but i
don't hold out much hope. Still you could give it a try. It is freeware. Go
to www.download.com and search for Restoration.
There are numerous other file undelete applications which off a free trial
but, in many cases, they may find the files but because it is a trial
version you may not be able to recover the files themselves without buying
the product.

If the file was over-written and there is no backup,
then its contents have been erased. Next time, make
routine backups of important files.
