Deleted emails problem

Been using Vista Windows Mail for a while now and mostly it works OK for me.
However there's one thing that I can't seem to get right. It's using an IMAP
account, and in Thunderbird (and Outlook Express before I went to Vista) I
had it set to continue showing a deleted email with a line through it in the
message list until I did a purge.

I have "Use deleted items folder with IMAP accounts UNchecked which I
expected to give me what I wanted, but they still disappear when I hit
delete. Not a major - I can work with it, but I wonder if anyone can offer a
thought please? And puh-leeeeeeeeease don't suggest I move to Windows Live
Mail. Maybe I'm odd, but I'd rather go back to TB than that.

Thanks for any ideas.

Ah, forgetaboutit! Windows Mail seems to not be too good with IMAP
anyway. Just migrated to TB.

I tryed to follow some of the advice by opening the event viewer as
suggested. I was able to open it and following the insatructions looked for
the email sent engine. It was not there. Any other suggestions? This
problem is annoying. Will all the others having a similar problem that
Microsoft has not worked on this.
