delete shadow copies and old restore points

I have a manufacturer-replacement Vista Ultimate system that replaces a month
old unit that stopped working. I am trying to clean all personal data off
the old hard drive (now installed as a data drive in the new PC). I have
deleted it all, except when I click "Properties" on the old hard drive, I see
about 10 or 15 shadow copies listed there which I cannot delete. How do I
delete these restore points / shadow copies from the the old hard drive? (BTW
I will wipe the data-containing area of the drive clean before I return it, I
just want to make sure there is no personal info left on the drive in hidden
areas (like a shadow copy or restore point version) before I do so).

Thanks,
Mike

There are two things you want to do to accomplish this. First, I would
create a new restore point, and a Complete PC Backup. Then, to remove all
old restore points, and backups, run Cleanmgr.exe and select the option to
remove all but the last restore point. (This will include old backups too)

Hi,
First take ownership of the files, then set the permissions to full control
then delete.
