Delete records from Public Folder

We have a spam product that points tagged messages in a public folder.
Can someone point me towards a macro or tool that will allows me to
mass delete items based on date?

Does sorting by date, clicking the first in the range, holding shift and
clicking the last, then pressing Delete not do what you want?
 
There are thousands of messages that are deleted daily. Deleting in
the method you describe, which is what I am doing now, often causes
Outlook to go into "Not Responding." I'm just looking for an easier
way.
