My comments are predicated upon you using Outlook 2003, since you've failed
to state your Outlook version.
Delete by rule or manually? By rule, enable the "mark as read" action.
Manually, permanently delete them by holding down Shift when you delete,
change your Reading Pane settings to mark them read as soon as they appear
in the pane, or, alas, live with them as unread in the Deleted Items folder.
If you don't want them appearing in the Unread Mail search folder, customize
that folder to exclude Deleted Items.
Right-click the Unread Mail folder, choose Customize this Search Folder.
click Browse. Uncheck the box in front of the root of the data store and
check the box in front of the individual folders you wish to include.
Reading through the examples of Outlook issues I have found no details
addressing two areas I am challenged with:
1) Mark As Read has been set for 3 seconds but no longer works. Msgs must
be manually changed through Edit. This feature used to work by timer but has
recently stopped working even though settings reflect on.
2) Some msgs received come through in multiple. Some may come is as two or
more (up to 5 so far) identical msgs. I checked Rules and no apparent
exceptions are listed for these senders.
