Delete All Standard TCP/IP ports and local printers

Jim Graham

I a looking for a way to delete all of the local printers
from my users PCs. However, several are running Adobe,
Office 2003, and others that have local printer devices.

Also, is there an easier way to create new Stand TCP/IP
ports using a script. Right now I am using VB to create
the registry entries and then reboot the machines.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

If your target machines are XP or later, you can use WMI to delete print
queues and Standard TCP/IP printer ports. There are a few sample scripts in
%windir%\system32. Looks at prnmngr.vbs and prnport.vbs.

If you're also targeting W2k, then there's a tool called PrnAdmin in the
Resource Kit that can add/delete queues and tcp/ip ports.
