how much space have you got on you main hard drive, the C drive?
if it is in MB and not in GIG, then you need to do a defrag as the drive
is full!!

Your post was posted and answered, before you made this second posting.

I see all three posts now and the replies for the first time. Yesterday I
just still saw my last post and no reply. What m I doing wrong here. How
many other times has this happened to me?? rhetorical question.

I just clicked Get Next 300 headers several times in another ng and saw a
response that I never saw before, s0 in this group I turned off Get Next 300
headers, but I turned it back on after waiting 22 minutes while it
downloaded several 10's of thousands of headers.

hmmmm

The good news is you are using Outlook Express vs. the web page interface.

Need to read in Help for Outlook Express on how to use it. To "start"
fresh, download just a few headers and check the box about marking all
them "read" (I don't have OE handy to check this dialog box wording).
that will get you started fresh. Take note also that this newsgroup
will generate about 1000 items per day, so you will have to wade through
them.

Read more about using OE for newsgroup at
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=/directory/worldwide/en-gb/newsout.asp

I confused. Marking all read, will later tell me that I read ones that I did
not read, right? Makes browsing messages kinda hard. "Oh, this one looks
interesting(open it), damn, I already read that one."

What if I posted another, but did not have time to look at a previous post
for replies, then I close it and those replies get marked read, but I never
did.

Still, if I get a reply to my post and then there are 400 more headers
posted to ng before I look for replies, then I will not see the reply,
right??

What about that sychro thing?

That link did not help.

You can always read ones you previously rad.

You should be looking at the thread. Don't post if you don't read the
previous. In any even, OE doesn't mark them read until you read them, o
or tell it to read.
Still, if I get a reply to my post and then there are 400 more headers
posted to ng before I look for replies, then I will not see the reply,
right??

If you get 400 replies to your posting, you have a lot of reading to do.

You need to remember the topic for your postings, or use OE's abilty to
find your own postings. See Help.
What about that sychro thing?

Haven't a clue what you are talking about. Search Help for "syncro thing".
That link did not help.

It explains how to use OE in introductory form. read it again.

what is: "introductory form"

ref: "You can always read ones you previously rad. " I rely on them being
marked read, so that I do NOT read them again.

ref: "You should be looking at the thread. Don't post if you don't read the
previous. " I do when I search for replies to my posts. But some days I may
not have time too, then "Mark all as read when leaving", will mark them as
read, but I never did. Understand??

ref: "If you get 400 replies to your posting, you have a lot of reading to
do." I said 400 headers downloaded, not 400 replies to my post.

As an "introduction" to people new to the software.
ref: "You can always read ones you previously rad. " I rely on them being
marked read, so that I do NOT read them again.

So .. then don't read them again. Marking them as "read" makes it so
that you do not read them again, per your own work process.
ref: "You should be looking at the thread. Don't post if you don't read the
previous. " I do when I search for replies to my posts. But some days I may

Do not allow software to mark all as read when leaving.

Ok. On dialup that is a lot, but only a portion of the volume on this
particular ng. That's life.

Not interested. I use Mozilla's news reader most of the time anyway.

cheers.
