Takes a long time to delete print job from queue

If I cancel a running print job, it can take four or five minutes for the
job to finally disappear from the queue. Is this normal, or is there some
way to speed this process up?

Thanks very much.

Yup. I've had two HP deskjets. I'll put this plainly... they SUCK and
so does the print driver software that they ship with. I will NEVER
buy another HP.

I have one HP deskjet 5550 currently on a network. The drivers
installed on three different machines (two XP and one ME). Did your
model come with driver software that loads into the system tray? I've
found that the jobs print better (faster) and you can delete them from
the print que easier if you remove that piece of crap software that
loads in the system tray (been a while, but I think it's in the
StartUp group so remove it from there and reboot). But still, even
after removing that from the tray, you don't get a speed demon so....

Quite frankly, and I'm serious about this, when the ink cartridge on
your machine runs dry, throw out the machine and get an Epson inkjet.

I don't know what happened to HP. They used to make such great laser
printers (I've still got a 9 yr old LaserJet running strong). By the
way, the HP LaserJet is also on the network and printing to it or
deleting items from the que is effortless.
