Delaying upgrade

Bought a new computer with XP Home, I can get an upgrade to Vista for the
postage price only. Having read a bit about the problems people are having
I am reluctant (I remember W98 > XP), so if I got Vista could I hold on to
it without installing until all the problems are ironed out?

TIA

Yes - but how long are you going to wait ?

Windows XP still has issues today and monthly patches - you might as
well backup your PC and go with the upgrade - until you do this, you
will never know what issue YOU will specially have or not have.
Personally all my system are Vista and have been for a significant
period of time.
From general PC use to dev work etc I have not encountered any
significant issues.

Remember hanging around in these newsgroups you will only see
problems - these may not be relevant to your system or usage
scenarios, so do not base your decision to move on what you only see
here.

Of course, why not? It's not as if the DVD you get will somehow
mysteriously vanish after a certain time. Your computer provider may
have put a time limit on how long the upgrade offer is available though;
get the upgrade and put it aside until you feel the time is right.

Why not run the upgrade advisor & check to see if there will be any
problems?
I upgraded to Vista in the 1st week of release & have had no probs on a 2 yr
old machine.
Just had to download a few newer drivers.
If you can get the dvd for the price of postage it's worth a look.
