Delay of Game?

When going onto the internet from a non networked, stand
alone PC with XP pro I have started to suffer from a
dealy of sorts. The first internet window will open but
load really slow (if at all) other internet windows, and
other apps will not open for several minutes.

This behavior is new. The only known change to the
system are the never ending security bullitens from
microsoft. I've tried turning off the firewall, shutting
down unused applications, and running ad-aware but with
out success.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What does a scan with your current antivirus (using updated definitions)
show?
