Defragmenters?

My C: drive has become too small to handle just about anything. I've
moved nearly everything except windows off of it, and I'm still
pushing the limits of what will allow the system to be stable.

I would still like to defragment the drive, but the defrag utility
says it'll be useless with so little free space. Is there a utility
that would allow me to use the free space on one drive to
optimize/defrag another one?

I ran into the same problem on a 6 gig drive and re-installedt my system on
20 gigs. I was dreaming or something thinking I could run xp on 6 gigs. I
feel that the absolute minimum for xp is 20 gig and if you gen to a smaller
c drive you are asking for lots of trouble. Don't fool yourself. There is
no way around a re-install at this point.

Paragon's hard disk defragmenter works even with less than 1% free disk
space available.

demo isn't crippled in any way, shape or form. It's the full product with a
30-day limit.

No in the way you describe, but Perfect Disk www.raxco.com requires far
less free than the inbuilt defrag.

See what you can move out from C to another partition - the whole of My
Documents can easily be moved. And use Disk Cleanup; its More Options
allows deletion of all but the most recent Restore point which may
release quite a lot

I like Raxco, and recommend it, but there can still be a reson to
clean up if disk space is low. So far all the responses gave answers
without asking the obvoious questions;

How big is your disk and how much free space do you
have?

Is the file system NTFS or FAT32 ? (If it's ntfs then you can get
space back via teh compression property.)

FWIW I run XP, with _lots_ of heavy applications on an 8gb partition
with 1.4gb free, so far.
